So wanna take a second to talk, you can skip over this shit if you want. I'm not by means a writer but I have this contant inner dialouge which is nice to sometimes record for myself, ya mean.

So this weekend one of my closest pals- and someone who I owe a lot to for really watching me grow up since we met years ago- brought another life into the world. It was sudden and faster-happening then I was expecting cuz I guess you watch something grow for a while, you'd assume there'd be a lot more anticipation in the end. Certainly wasn't the case. It's exciting. There is a lot of thought and ideas in my head of the future - more laughs and crys and so much more stuff to learn - another little girl to watch grow!
But I've also been doing a lot of reflection of the past.
Thinking of when I first meet someone, whether its going to be a future best-friend, boyfriend, or even step sibling. It's like a big secret realm of what's to come and you sense it all in the first moment you meet. And so I try my best to remember, what we did the first day, what we talked about the first real conversation we had, when you realize silly things that you have in common that bind you - an instant bond you get to cherish for a long, long time to come. How cool is the world with all these intertanglings and growth and memories. Anyways. Calm and reflective over here.

Anyways here is the horoscope I am giving myself this week: I need to fucking regroup. I keep getting super freaking scatterbrained and spending too much time and money on crap. Like, eating from the expensive market across the street from my office. Fuck that noise. Pack a lunch DUH. Or like sitting at home and staring blankly at a super messy room instead of cleaning it up. CLEAN IT BITCH. You think your idols got where they are today because they ate at Chelsea Market every day and spent too much time on Craigslist. REGROUP. Also consider oversized 3 piece suits in your wardrobe. I don't know if bodycon minis with a crust vest gets everyone's respect anymore. Most for sure, but def not all.

a TON of things going on as of late, which is fucking fun and having me look forward to a warm winter & working on hella projects.
Also, Paris was a fucking epic trip and I spent most of it eating cheese & bread, somehow meeting the only kid from Pittsburg traveling through Paris, slaying a 3 day fabric convention, and checking out some cool Parisian sites.

One notable shop I got to check out (which was totall a tip-off from Desert Island, the best fucking comic book/zine shop in all of Brooklyn!) was this jam Un Regard Moderne:

The inside of this shop in insane, and you can see there isn't very much for shelving besides other stacked books. I definitely did knock over a bunch of stuff and the shop keeper just went "tsk tsk tsk" and seemed to have an order in which he prefered to put them back in.

In other news, Jennifer from SteamPatchCo has started Modular Fashion - a blog on everything patches/grungy/diy upcycled fashion. Basically my kind of stuff. Her shop rules and we did an awesome trade a bit back where she sent me the patch that lays as the "crown" of my favorite vest.

Anyways, she did a very flattering write up on my shop here. Keep checking in on good posts - girl knows her stuff.

Also, Jess Versus from Twelve 28 Tattoo raised the bar this Saturday by hooking me up with my first leg tattoo

Fucking rules and even though it's properly shedding (ok, healing) like Atlas moths do in real life, I couldnt be any more proud to have a piece of Jess's work damn smack center of my gams. Booyah!

So over the weekend in my mess of a hardcorehangoverfatlipbruisesgalore I stayed in with some of my ladies on Saturday and watched the Patti Smith documentary Dream of Life.
Now i'm not one of those celeb idolizor types, i tend to obsess and stay influenced more over what my community/ladies/pals/loved ones are doing. But this Patti Smith bitch is so wild and poetic and doesn't give a fuck. I strive for that ish like every day. So that's pretty cool. Yesterday I looked outside into our little Brooklyn backyard, and noticed the snow/ice had mostly melted from that hella-needed 50+ degree Friday. The yard was covered in pigeon feathers so I decided to go check it out.
There's been an epic hawk that's literally been having a blast shredding pigeons apart, we've seen him a couple times pecking the fuck out of things. This hawk is huge.
Anyways, it's a total pigeon graveyard back there. There's mostly feathers and a few blood spots and cartilage chucks - but I did however find this out there. The ice helped keep it preserved, so I threw some borax on it and set it with some pins. in a few weeks i should have a damn pigeon wing mounted and ready to go. Wildlife in Brooklyn, woo. Sad that I'm getting stoked over the flying rat of birds but hey, this is what we have.

PS I obviously don't kill animals or approve of killing animals for whatever reasons, I just think it's interesting to find what nature left us. Even the smallest of nature that sneaks it's way into fucking Brooklyn. Yippadeedoo.

I pulled most of these images off my cousin's blog because she is pretty fucking awesome and sometimes it is a little creepy how much we dig the same shit. Also I am probably painting some crapass thingie for her this weekend so I'm just busy digging through the inspiration bank.
Anyways, I haven't been posting the last few days because I had the metal taken out of my arm from a bicycle injury I had 2 years ago. For those of you who were not reading this shitty blog 2 years ago, I do not blame you but here is a recap:

Initial break in right arm. The left arm was also fractured but that was boring on the x-ray.

After surgery on the right arm. left arm got two boring screws, no plate.

My sister took me to the zoo while I visited my hometown for my family to take care of me. I refused to wear slings.

After the wrappings came off. Scar and staple marks!

Scars on both arms as they healed. Right arm incision was remade this Friday to remove metal.

I know that was fucking lame. So anyways, will post what my right arm looks like when they take the soft cast off tomorrow. But I heard there is only stitches this time, not staples. So it might not be as intense. Also, I got to keep the metal so I will be posting that too.

I don't remember ever seeing the last two videos, but I remember being a kid and watching the fight scene between Kano vs. Sonya as my all time favorite. My dad didn't want me to own the movie so I hit a copied VHS tape in my clothing drawer to watch when no one was home.
I actually thought Sonya ruled so hard. I remember my name in Spanish class was Sonya. And I bought a black tank top and black shorts like her getup in this scene, and would rock that shit while running around with the neighborhood boys. Oh, and I also bought some American Flag earrings from Claire's once, because Sonya was American and yeah I'd rock those too thinking I was a fucking real bad ass.

Since taking this photo, my camera flash has ceased working and i haven't gotten a good image on the back. Dyeing this was a ton of fun and I'm already working on the next one. This did however make it on the back. The "W" sucks but I think it helps if I let the acrylic gum up a bit to spread better on the denim. Painting patches is pretty neat and I def plan on making more this month.

Do you ever get really upset with yourself when you know you should be getting up at 4AM to challenge yourself in chest/head high waves with 14 second ground swell but you chicken out and sleep until 7:30am instead. And no matter how much you convince yourself that you probably needed the sleep, you know it's a lie and you should have pushed yourself anyways. But you never know how the morning would have actually gone. You would have maybe wiped out in the sticks and bloodied up your face, or you would have sat on the beach and watched in despair. Or you would have stood up and ridden all the way down the line. It's frustrating not knowing.

Also, I was hoping for a gore scene at the end of that video.

Ten more days until I get the metal plate removed in my right elbow from a bike accident two years ago. It's weird anticipating a broken-esque arm again. I'll have an intact arm, but with several gaping screw holes that will need to fill in. So... another 4-6 weeks off the bike and in a bit of insanity. A lot of GIFS and probably shitty embroidery will take place to pass the time... taking requests now.

Why do I believe I have the superpower to wipe out everything in my path but spare the world from my dangerous wrath by constantly practicing good behavior and understanding proper discipline. Unlike the portrayal of Will Smith's character in Hancock which was so stupid and is the probable modern reason of why real superpowers are looked down upon in our society.

Today I would like to applaud the sun for it's appearance. I would now like to recite song lyrics from Noah and the Whale's "The First Days of Spring."

This song is actually kinda fucking sad anyways. Do you really think that someone could rebuild themselves in a year to become the person you want to love? (That's what they talk about in the second verse.) I don't really think that could happen but I'm also playing devil's advocate here.

Today is such an awesome day! It is so sunny and friends are happy and I rode my bike around delivering packages for clients and cars were being a little moody today and my knee is a little cranky but I am having a blast and am listening to a giantly good playlist right now that my pal Tina made for me. I also went to Wall street for the first time (5 years in New York and I have never been, I know.) But there was so much tourism and so many field trips, it was exciting to watch. Everyone was literally shitting themselves over flags and statues.

MINI-FIELD TRIP THURSDAY

Today I went on a mini-field trip before I hit the office!
ASTRO: Gallery of Gems is located on 185 Madison and 34th St in New York. The space is freaking huge and I can't imagine the price per square foot for retail space right around the corner from the Empire State Building. Especially a place that mainly sells huge rocks for $7000 bucks. Because that's not really high in tourist demand right now if you know what I mean.

Anyways! I went with the idea to take madd photos, but the salesclerk was a total BOCES and told me I could only take ONE OVERALL PICTURE. Whhaaaaa.
